Poseidon Principles, CII per Voyage and More
It's been a busy autumn at Emission+! Since our UK ETS Statements announcement we've shipped a new regulation, a much more detailed CII view, new data quality checks and a long list of smaller improvements. Here's a round-up of what's new.
Poseidon Principles
Emission+ now calculates your vessels' Poseidon Principles values, right next to the regulations you already know. Along with the result, you can see the values it is based on, so you can check how it was calculated.
CII
The CII page has had a major upgrade. For more background on CII, have a look at our docs article.
- CII per voyage: your CII result is now broken down voyage by voyage, so you can see which voyages pull your rating up or down. Port stays are left out of the breakdown. Keep in mind that CII is defined by regulation as an annual value, so per-voyage figures are a guide, not a rating.
- CII over time: a new graph shows how your cumulative CII develops through the year.
- Reduction potential: a tooltip shows how much CO₂ you would need to save to improve your rating, using the correction factor for the year. It notes where reductions may overlap.
- Sustainable fuels are now listed separately in the CII fuel breakdown.
- Clearer error messages when CII can't be calculated, so you know what data is missing.
Statements
All statement PDFs (EU ETS, UK ETS and FuelEU) have a new layout with more consistent number formatting. FuelEU statements now show the original dates of split voyages and include footnotes for ports and redistribution again. They no longer show the misleading "corrected" energy value.
On the FuelEU voyage table, the approximate cost and balance columns now have an info icon. It reminds you that FuelEU is defined as a full-year calculation, so per-voyage values are only a rough guide.
Data quality
- New DWT plausibility check: we now compare the reported DWT carried with the cargo on board and with a calculated value (displacement − lightweight − fuel on board at departure). Ballast voyages must report 0 mt and laden voyages more than 0 mt. Each issue includes a suggested value. The old cargo-type check is removed.
- Correction vs. consumption issues now show up correctly in the validation table.
- Validation emails now link to the documentation, and are only sent for the checks enabled for each vessel.
- Our Data quality chapter is much longer and now explains the checks and how to resolve them.
Fleet
- The fleet map charts only include vessels above 5,000 GT, which matches the scope of the regulations. The chart labels say so.
- Vessels marked as retired in SDBnet are no longer synced, no longer get validation emails and no longer show as "synchronizing".
- Offshore vessels are now supported.
- Bio-methanol is now available as a fuel type, including in the public EU calculator.
Usability
- On the go: Emission+ can now be added to your phone's or tablet's home screen as an app. We've also fixed layout issues on iPad, and you can now pinch to zoom and rotate the fleet map.
- Exemptions: the exemptions table now shows remarks inline and is easier to scan.
- Monitoring plans: main engine power (MCR) can now have decimals. Plans with technical efficiency values or tank monitoring as the backup method now display correctly.
Fixes
- Fixed voyages that failed to load.
- Unsaved SEEMP edits are no longer lost when the page refreshes its data.
- SEEMP Part III no longer fails when the CII correction value would divide by zero.
- The attained CII calculation handles a rounding edge case with sustainable fuel certificates.
- The FuelEU compliance balance chart shows the correct y-axis label, and fleet charts display correctly.
External API
If you use our API, please note:
- The external API is now rate-limited to 300 requests per 60 seconds per organization. Requests above the limit
get HTTP
429 Too Many Requests. - Unknown API paths now return HTTP
404 Not Found.
As always, we'd love to hear your feedback!
